I sent this to Sen. Lieberman today by e-mail. I will also be sending a hard copy to his office. I think it's time that we who support health care reform remind the Senator that during the last election we raised huge sums of money through grass roots efforts. We raised enough money that we managed to get elected a relatively unknown, black senator with a muslim-sounding name to President....beating out a well-known, decorated war hero!
Let's make sure Joe knows how we feel!

Dear Sen. Lieberman:
I have to confess that I don't understand your obstructionist stand on meaningful health care reform. I find your ever changing excuses for why you won't support such reform to be sickening and inherently wrong on many levels. But I also understand that as a Senator you are committed to working for your state. (Though, this too is confusing when you realize that people from your own state support a public option by a two to one margin)
What I am truly upset about though is that you are unwilling to commit to a cloture vote to allow an up or down vote on the legislation. This is a country that is supposedly ruled by a majority vote. Please allow that vote on health care reform. If you disagree with the bill, state your reasons and vote against it...but ALLOW the vote to happen.
We are not stupid in this country and we do not forget as easily as you might think. I can assure you of two actions that I will take as an American if you manage to kill meaningful health care reform. I will petition my Senators to remove you from any position of authority on any committee upon which you currently sit. I don't want you chairing ANYTHING much less something as important as the Homeland Security Committee. And I will donate to the campaign of ANY person who challenges you in your next election.
And remember, the last election was won through the help of people like me who donated $10 here and $10 there to elect a President. We can do the same thing for your challenger!
